A gem among gems

Founded four generations ago by the Bothma family, and managed today by Cobus Bothma, Swartrivier Farm is a true landmark of the Prince Albert community. Beginning just beyond the town’s doorstep, our farm stretches out over 668 hectares of beautiful Karoo countryside at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains.

Our 17-hectare olive orchards are home to more than 3,000 mature trees – Mission and Manzanilla in roughly equal measure, complemented by Leccino and other oil cultivars. We have a proud tradition of growing delicious olives and producing our own extra virgin olive oil, along with a range of other delicious wares, all available under the O for Olive brand.

Café O displays all our delicious products for sale, as well as offering delicious coffee, tea, cakes, fresh breads, light lunches, tapas and tasting sessions. The patio and outdoor area, complete with manicured garden and water features, is complemented by a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. PLEASE NOTE, BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL FOR MEALS.

We have a selection of freshly made goodies for little ones. We can even prepare you a family picnic in our olive groves (please book 2 days in advance).

All our delicious products are available from Café O, with tasting sessions on the go every day we’re open. Sample the magic and bring it home with you.

True Karoo magic

The exceptional taste and quality of O for Olive products is the result of two perfect combinations. The first is a blend of good old-fashioned experience, expertise and timing. The second is all down to nature: a rare combination of ideal weather conditions and sandy, well-drained soils, together with drip-fed, mineral-rich irrigation from nearby springs. And, of course, beautiful olive trees of optimum fruit-bearing age.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Our premium olive oil is cold pressed and bottled on site. Presenting the perfect balance of spicy notes and hints of fruit, it’s the perfect complement to a wide variety of healthy dishes.

Olives & Olive Products

Our wide range of succulent olives is complemented by a delicious assortment of olive-based items: tapenades, chutney, marmalade and salad dressing.

Swartrivier Preserves

Rounding out our wares is a wonderful collection of fig, apricot and grape preserves.

O for Olive supplies a good number of Johannesburg’s premier restaurants and hotels, together with selected retailers. The Southern Cape is our largest market, including retailers, deli’s and distributors from Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Wilderness, George, Mossel Bay, Cape Town to St Helena Bay on the West Coast.
